This morning, Ms. Cassidy’s class had the exciting opportunity to meet the pen pals they’ve been writing to this year from Ms. Hessman’s 4th grade class at Apollo Elementary! ✏️💛
Students had so much fun seeing familiar faces, meeting new friends, and getting to know Ms. Hessman’s service dog in training, Jasper! The day was filled with activities including personality bingo, outdoor playtime, games, a tour of the school, and even a fun “Save the Worm” activity!
It was a wonderful day full of connection, teamwork, and new memories. Thank you again to Ms. Hessman and her class for being such welcoming and wonderful hosts! 😊

Our 6th graders had an amazing time last week at “Scots for a Day” at Monmouth College!
Students got a firsthand look at college life by touring campus, enjoying lunch at the outdoor amphitheater, and participating in two engaging academic activities led by college professors. Sessions included areas like music, forensic studies, theater, and communication studies — giving students the chance to explore new interests and experience learning in a college setting.
The day wrapped up with Q&A with college students, where our students could ask questions and learn more about the college experience.

This inaugural event will support the newly established Steve and Chris Youngquist Community Fund, which will give back directly to local schools and community programs.

Our 5th graders were off to historic Nauvoo for an unforgettable day of learning and exploration last week! 🏛️🌿
Students experienced history in a whole new way—discovering what life was like in the 1840s by engaging in old fashioned games, a wagon ride, museums, and presentations of how things were built back then. It was a great day of learning and creating memories with friends!

Our 4th graders had an unforgettable adventure this week at Wildlife Prairie Park! 🚌🌳 From spotting native animals to exploring the great outdoors, it was a day full of curiosity, learning, and lots of smiles. Students loved seeing wildlife, asking great questions, and connecting what we’ve learned in the classroom to the natural world around us. Experiences like this make learning come alive!

In Mrs. Johnston's 4th grade class, the art presenter introduced students to the Brooklyn Bridge and its incredible design. Students took on a fun engineering challenge—first creating a tall structure, then a long one, and finally a stable structure strong enough to hold weight. It was amazing to see their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in action!
